Sports physiotherapy is a special form of physiotherapy. The target group is athletes in the recovery phase. The therapists support amateur and professional athletes in their regeneration. This enables patients to return to their everyday training and competition routine more quickly. The medical care also benefits prevention.

Sports physiotherapy relies on regular equipment training for preventative muscle building. As part of physiotherapy, the patient specifically strengthens the muscle areas that are used the most during sport. This not only increases muscle strength, but also prevents typical sports injuries.
At the same time, the therapist and patient train common movement patterns that automate important movement sequences. Selected exercises also shorten the regeneration phases between individual periods of exertion. The overall resilience of the body increases.
Sports physiotherapy makes use of a wide range of medically recognized procedures. Electrotherapy is frequently used. It stimulates muscle and tissue areas with electric current. The targeted irradiation relaxes the muscles, stimulates blood circulation, relieves pain and promotes healing.
Thermotherapy has proven to be just as effective. Here, the therapist deliberately uses heat and cold applications. Heat therapy is effective against stubborn muscle tension, reduces pain in the musculoskeletal system and loosens adhesions and scars in the tissue. Meanwhile, cold therapy primarily treats swelling and inflammation. The principle is simple: the cold constricts the blood vessels, slows down the metabolism and reduces blood circulation. Swelling and inflammation gradually subside.
Kinesio tape has become an integral part of competitive sports. However, this form of treatment with the colorful tapes is also becoming increasingly popular in amateur sports. The core of the therapy is the Kinesio tape, an extremely stretchy and self-adhesive fabric tape. The patient places it directly on the problem area. Here it alleviates joint pain, tension, overuse pain and Sports injuries.
Alternatively, sports physiotherapy advises sling training. This involves working out with your own body weight. The firm and stretchy ropes and straps of the challenging training system bring the body or only individual extremities into a floating starting position. From this position, the patient works against gravity with their body weight. They gain muscle strength and coordination.
Which Treatment methods The type of sports physiotherapy ultimately prescribed depends entirely on the type of sport and the patient's physical condition. Sports physiotherapy is therefore not a standard concept. Sports physiotherapy is an individual concept, perfectly tailored to the patient's needs.
